BSM Digest has “Twelve Things You Need to Know About Application Performance Management in the Cloud.” Unsurprisingly, visibility, tracking changes, management automation, and monitoring end user performance are 4, 12, 10, and 7, respectively.

One of the things, of course, that you’re probably tracking, is unified communications. And just when we’re starting to get a handle on monitoring Skype traffic, Google plans to implement real time communications into Chrome using nothing but Javascript and a toolkit for real time communication based in the Google Chrome browser. The good news: I won’t have to walk Mom through installing Skype ever again. The bad news: the massive number of Soviet Russia “Browser Watches You!” jokes on Slashdot.

In cloud services news, Netflix, which managed to weather the Amazon outage with relative ease, actually had an outage this weekend. There’s no word on what caused the outage yet, though my guess is that it was done by space aliens who needed to bring the system down in order to implant subliminal messages into our heads.

Speaking of subliminal messaging, you know you’ve been working with startups for too long when you can understand half the words these guys are saying.
